FA Range Statistics - NM or SM?

Anyone know if the FA range statistics (the cool polar charts) are in Statute Miles (SM) or Nautical Miles (NM)?

Trying to match up the addition of range rings on the local display of Dump1090 data with the FA statistics page.

Thanks!!

Mins shows as KM, it’s set in your profile … now I need to remember what you do to get to where you set it.

This item is set on your “Account” page (reached from the drop-down below your name) at the bottom of #5.

Distances for “Flights” and “Nearby ADS-B Sites” are shown in statute miles regardless of your personal setting.

Thanks - is there a reference somewhere in the FA documentation or FAQ that confirms that all the statistics for FA on the website are in Statute Miles (sm)?

Also - in checking out some of the configuration changes to dump1090 to add range rings - seems like several of them are done in Nautical Miles (nm) based on measuring the map output pages. Which was why I was asking!!

Thanks!

ADS-B distances are simply relative differences between positions. What is shown on the FA user page polar graph can be different than what is shown on the webserver map. tdrane is correct on where to look to see what your distance units are on the FA page. It will explicitly show what your setting is. The range rings on the webserver maps may very well be in NM and could be different than your FA page. My map’s range rings are in NM and match what my setting is on the FA page but they would not necessarily have to match. Hope that helps.

Yes, understand that. I’m going to change the code/config in the dump1090 so that it matches the FA statistics page (polar graph). Some of the config changes folks have posted for dump1090 (for local display of range rings) appear to be in NM. Confirmed this by measurement on the displayed map.

So - just double confirming the way FA displays statistics. Appreciate the suggestions.

Ahh ok. Sounds like you have already found this, but if not, you can modify the range rings in the config.js file. I think you are just wanting them to match the FA page and using NM but you could draw the rings (after doing the conversion) in statute miles and then set the FA page to use statue miles. Apologies if I’m handing out advice you are know.

Yes - that’s what I was referring to - the config.js settings (scripts too, I think…) for dump1090. Appreciate the confirm. Learning all these nuances & really appreciate this great community forum for support.
