Engine value question

I have a business associate that is asking me questions about the value of some jet engines. They are GE model CF6-80A from a 767. He is involved in a possible salvage deal and is looking for some guidance. I already explained that accurate records and times on the engine are critical but he is looking for a rough range. Anyone have an idea?

Lots of variables… If it’s high time since OH and bumping up against component life limits, maybe around $1M. At the the other end…upwards of 10X that. As an example… When Honeywell purchased the 757 that is now uses as it’s engine flight test aircraft it was a solid airframe and had relatively fresh RB211’s. They cut a deal to swap their “good” engines for some high time reduced life limit engines plus cash. Since Honeywell’s utilization of the airplane is so very much less than a airline operator, they will have ample time left on the high time trade engines to meet their needs for years… The story goes that the deal essentially paid for the purchase of the aircraft.
