discrepancy between progress and status data

I’m tracking Qatar 63 from Doha to Zurich, which has a flight time just over 6 hours and a distance of 2,795 sm.

According to the progress bar, it has 1 hour and 16 minutes left, being 4 hours and 49 minutes into its journey: it’s about 80% home

But according to the status data, and the map and latitude/longitude co-ordinates, it has only 802 sm down and 1993 sm to go - not even 33% home.

Why such a large discrepancy?

Check the sentences at the bottom for the map: At least part of this flight occurs outside of FlightAware’s primary service area. [/utl]

Probably a bug in position estimation for flights in our non-primary service area.
