I flew on this bird back in March just as air travel demand was beginning to collapse. After the plane went to ATL it never showed on FlightAware for several days, now is in service again, but to a lot of military airports. Anyone know what these flights are?
Probably flying PPE as it’s more secure to fly it to one of those and transport it in a military convoy. That stuff is basically gold right now.
Or, it’s possible the US Government is using Delta for charter flights to move personnel around.
Major airlines, and other operators, run military charters all the time. This is not particularly unusual.
There is a thing called Civil Reserve Air Fleet,the DOD has contracts with several major airlines to move cargo,passengers and supplies as needed,to keep the Military aircraft free for essential Military movements.
