I recently bought the Coaxial Cable for Antenna - not noticing the fact that it’s male/male. Consequently I was surprised when it arrived and I found that I could not attach it to my antenna, which is also male.
I’m assuming that perhaps I need one of these?
I get now that the cable is intended for the 978 or 1090 antennas, which have the N type termination. My antenna is an older version (from about 2021) of the two-coil indoor antenna.
Is it just going to be ineffective for me to run this antenna outside with 15 feet of this cable using an adapter? I had this antenna outside for several years, and it did okay. I’m now setting it up in a different location where it’s not convenient for me to keep the Pi close to the antenna.
You could use the antenna with an adapter and the cable, you would need a N female adapter to a SMA female adapter (I think you have a SMA connector on the indoor antenna) in order to connect the cable to the SDR stick (SMA connection female).
Without pictures it’s hard to tell what you need exactly.
Yes indeed @tomvdhorst - I think that is all correct. The antenna termination, and the cable’s N end which needs to connect to it, are shown respectively in the pics below. These adapters are available in lots of places and I’ll order one today. Thanks!
