Can anyone recommend a good scanner?

Hello all,

I am currently using a Radio Shack 800 MHz race scanner and find it to be quite the piece of s—. Can anyone recommend a good scanner that would handle aviation frequencies?

Thanks!! I look forward to everyone’s comments!!

That’s what I have, a beat up Radio Shack Pro-74 800MHz Race Scanner. It has excellent reception for air and ground. It picks up ground, tower, approach and center with great distance while I’m at home and in the car. When I’m on the highway I can pick off the state traffic planes from 60 miles. In fact if there is a police car transmitting within a block or two of me it bleeds onto other channels.

I use the Radio Shack Pro-97. It picks up all of the air frequencies I want and I can listen to Police, Fire, and Medical. I clip it to the sun visor in the car and have it on whenever I’m in there. The only thing I don’t like about it is I can’t pick up the digital 800 frequencies that some police agencies are on.

I’ve had it for a few years now and at $160.00 the price is great.
