UPDATE:

Plane has landed safely in Sydney. Unconfirmed reports that it was a galley fire.

Latest reports suggest incident not a serious as earlier reported. No un-contained fire just smoke from the galley.

If fuel was dumped over nothern Sydney (a little bizarre given that a right turn would have put the plane over the Pacific within a minute or two) then the fire must have broken out very soon after departure.
