Bird Strike

Uh, all images are technically graphic(s)…

Sorry, had to do it.

DUHHH good one  as you are right.

Let me rephrase it to say graphic graphics.

Allen

Can I get an Amen?

Not when it comes to common sense and courtesy. No Amen here.

Allen

The point is in aviation you are dealing with one basic rule (i.e. the Prime Directive): Pay attention or die.

If someone sees pictures such as those of the bird strikes perhaps he (or for the politically correct out there: he/she or s/he) will pay extra careful attention when in a high bird strike area.

Nice try Dami,

Tell that to a Boeing 737 jock that had a bird strike at flight level 37,000.

I don’t think the posting of these pictures will prevent one bird strike accident.

That is called fate my friend, if it’s meant to happen, the postings of the pictures (or even links to them) won’t prevent that bird strike.

Big sky theory only works so far.

Also, part of pilot prep is to be aware of all airport surroundings and information available to them, and most AFD’s will list high bird activity in vicinity or around airport, so I doubt that a pilot prepping for a flight will check this bird strike discussion as a reminder what a bird strike will do.

Allen

The possum picture I’ve had since at least 1998, I haven’t had the heart to get rid of him, poor guy.

Good point Pika, CSI is unnecessarily graphic just for the sake of being graphic. And BTW, “Dirty Jobs” is the best show on television, followed closely behind by “House”, and then “Mythbusters”.

I think we’re all missing the point here. I think a bird strike is a good thing. It’s about time they formed a union and fought the hazardous working conditions and poor benefits. They’ve been getting up early for years and what have they got to show for it? A slimy worm?

Your choice? Don’t open a thread called Bird Strike if you don’t like dead animals.

Are you sure this would be a good thing?

Think of all the creeepy, crawly slimy worms we would have to step over/ on due to a strike?

Trees would topple over due to the extra holes in the ground, we would sink 3 feet walking in our yards from the worm overpopulation.

Roads would start collapsing from the ground infrastructure being compromised.

The world would implode and end all we know.

Allen

Well then they would have quite a bargaining chip then wouldn’t they.

With no place to land, not so sure?

World imploded, we took to the skies to avoid end all end, and now we have overcrowded skies.

Jeeez, talk about thread drift from the failure of big sky theory

Allen

Sounds like “The Langoliers

WRONG… What part of courtesy needs explaining???

So, what you say, is that it’s ok to post pictures of entrails of people after a plane crash? Not open plane incidents threads because I have to fear somebody doesn’t have the respect of other peoples values.

Again, posting text based information seems more then reasonable about something offensive.

Posting a link to something that some may find offensive is not unreasonable.

To shove something that may be objectional down ones throat is WRONG. That is no different then using inappropriate language not fitting for this site.

We are at a flight tracking website, not some shock and awe website.

Seems that R E S P E C T has lost it’s value in the the land of the anonymous.

Allen

Ummmmm… you DO have the choice of scrolling up or down, or clicking on your browser’s back button - or even closing the browser altogether

Allen, I somewhat agree with your opinion, but I don’t think the pictures were really quite that bad. A little bit of blood and a dangling leg compared to entrails of crash victims is a bit over the top, don’t you think?

What’s next, someone’s going to complain about Buddy Christ? :unamused:

(we need a “stir the pot” smiley)

BEAUTIFUL Dogma reference…

Yes, if the entrails are there because some crazy Islamic fundamentalist desired to get his 72 virgins by killing people. The news media, in their political correctness, did a disservice to the people of America by not showing the full results of the World Trade Center crashes. They, unlike foreign new services, didn’t show people jumping out of the buildings that were destroyed.

Just think about how much more we could have accomplished in fighting the terrorists if people actually saw the full, gory details of the actions of the terrorists!

I remember they showed the jumpers the day of, but stopped showing them from the 12th on. I also remember one of the early reports showing a severed leg laying in the middle of the street, but they quickly cut away. I doubt that will ever see the light of day again.

Tell that to a Boeing 737 jock that had a bird strike at flight level 37,000.

Wow, I hope his plane was RVSM certified  Sounds like a flight level for the Space Shuttle. On the other hand, 37,000 FEET!!! is stll a little high for a bird.
Dami! I would give you an AMEN if I was religious. I don’t find anything wrong with the photos. I want to start a PETA group, People for the Ethical Treatment of AIRPLANES.
I’m stunned no tin-benders have brought up the topic of the stench of bird strikes. Anyone who has fixed the damage caused by an unfortunte event like that knows what I’m talking about. Oddly enough the deer in Portland had a different stench all together.

I’m more a fan of “People for the Eating of Tasty Animals.”
