Automatically restarting after a power glitch

After each power failure, even it lasts just for a minute, it is necessary to manually reboot my Pi2 (cut the power to it and then plug it back in). Is there a way to have the Pi computers reboot themselves when the power goes back on? This would keep my station on the air at times when I am away and cannot manually restart my Pi2.

It should come back by itself if you are getting complete power loss.

If you are getting a brownout or a very brief interruption then all bets are off, electronics really doesn’t like that and it’s hard to predict how the Pi will react, it may just hang outright.

I’d look at a mini-UPS if you have unreliable power (e.g: modmypi.com/raspberry-pi/br … s/ups-pico), that will at least allow a controlled shutdown and should smooth out any brief power problems.

Thank you for the information. It occurred to me that after the power comes back on, the wify modem is also rebooting and it can take a few minutes to do so. I always have to make sure that the wify modem has fully reset before the Pi2 can get back on line. It would be great if I could figure out a way to have the Pi2 start back up five minutes after the power comes back on. The wify mode should be back on by then and Pi2 could gain access to it. Thank you again for your help.

Maybe try a small UPS on the wifi device.

I don’t know about the Pi2’s but my Pi3’s have always rebooted automatically once power was restored.

Maybe just a simple powerbank would do the trick.
At least for some time.

Thank you. I will try an APC unit.
