At night I can see planes overhead that aren't on Flightawar

Last week I saw a few planes overhead that were not on flightaware or their map positions were incorrect. Any ideas?

Did you take into account the delay that FlightAware has (per FAA)?

Is it also possible that the ones that weren’t showing up on FlightAware were VFR?
