Was I the only lucky one?

Most of the 250NM hits to the west are from aircraft landing or on ground at Bahrain’s or Qatar’s airports.
Ducting is the only explanation I can come up with for the insane range I’m getting. My house is about 50m from the sea with no obstacles in the way so that probably helps too

My setup:

No name LMR400 from Aliexpress →
RTL-SDR Blog Triple Filter LNA →

250NM is plausible. But you have consistent 500+ NM in graphs. That’s not plausible to me.
Especially with ground vehicles. I don’t know…

If you look at the picture @fishymamba posted you can see aircraft at nearly 500NM. They are approximately half way between Kuwait and Riyadh so presumably at a reasonable altitude. Having experienced for myself the extreme tropo propagation that you can get in the Gulf, the distances he is reporting do not seem at all unlikely.

Consistently?
Like I said, to me this looks like two receivers. All those planes at low altitudes, and even on ground. But what do I care… everyone believes what wants.

Yes, during the summer.

Would the RSSI be this low on far away aircraft with two receivers. Who knows, maybe I sleptwalked to Qatar and set up a receiver there one day
