Tommy Lee's pilot arrest for Drunk Flying.

LOS ANGELES – A helicopter carrying rocker Tommy Lee was forced to land at Van Nuys Airport Sunday after it flew too close to an LAPD chopper over Glendale.

The incident happened around 10:45 a.m., police said.

The pilot apparently told police after landing that he had been drinking. He was taken to the LAPD’s Van Nuys Station and later released. He apparently was not booked for a crime pending the outcome of an intoxication test.

“The pilot was flying rather erratically, and he did get too close to one of our helicopters” said LAPD Officer Karen Smith. “The tower over the area was concerned about his flying too.”

Lee, who had been in the chopper, was let go. “Tommy Lee was a passenger aboard the helicopter, but he had nothing to do with the situation; so he was just released,” Smith said.

hey frank does that shock you, being you fly a plane?? what the hell is wrong with people.?? Its bad enough if you think you can drink and drive, we have pilots who think they can fly drunk, man this is totally stupid.

for purposes of this reply :imp: = the verbs “forget” “screw” etc or other more dramatic words that can substituted for those listed above…

:imp: Tommy Lee
:imp: his music
and :imp: his pilot

I have, on more than one occasion, been into the bottle and done simulator work. I can’t even imagine going up in real hardware after drinking…just unbelievable…TC

i heard that.!!!oh yea if you didnt know already, you mightt crash your computer doing that??? :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

like tommy lee like his music his pilot sucks!!! :exclamation:

Hey Tim! I did the same thing, had 3 glasses of wine and flew a Cessna 172 to Catalina from Long Beach in Flight Sim X on my 57" HDTV/PC Monitor, the field of vision is very realistic. I thought, “This is easy, can do it, just a simulator”. Now, I am not much of a drinker, so three glasses does me in. I purposely set the controls to from difficult to easy for this little experiment. The Result: I crashed onto the RR threshold.

So there you have it. FAIL… or rather… EPIC FAIL!! :open_mouth:

Nah… just plain ol’ fail on that one. “EPIC FAIL” would be drinking in the real world, crashing your 172 and killing your pax.

About the only time I drink is when I fly commercial. Several glasses of wine before and during dinner. Maybe Baileys and coffee after dinner. On the second leg I drink diet coke so I’m sober when I pick up the rental car.

good for you, when you want to drink let someone else do the flying!!! right on :exclamation: :exclamation:

DAMN does Diet Coke make you sober? I need to try that… (HUH? WTF?)

I personally thought that the sugar in regular soda makes you more alert  :stuck_out_tongue:

Only when combined with coffee(not decaf) and a few deep breaths of cold night air, after that you’re good to go.

There’s more caffeine in a “Coke” than in your average cup of coffee.

Actually, there’s more of a jolt of caffeine in a Hershey’s bar if you’re looking to stay awake.

Not according to this: cspinet.org/new/cafchart.htm

we got a bunch of sleepy pilots around here. be afraid be very very afraid :unamused: :open_mouth:

Interesting! I’ll stand corrected.

I used to use an 8 oz. Hershey bar as my “secret weapon” to stay awake on late night runs from Little Creek home to APG, seemed much more effective than just coffee. Well, that and a full bladder!

Yeah, I always thought the same thing. That chocolate had lots of caffeine, must be the sugar that adds to the kick, cause it works well on my kids.

I’m not saying TMZ is a good source of news…BUT did anyone see the pics. of this pilot and a young lady on a flight recently? If not go to TMZ…did not want to provide the link and have the thread locked
