Too bad, they were a day late to see any of the action at Pebble while circling.
To show how varied the weather is in this area, it was clear all day here. I’m located about 15-20 miles southeast of SFO.
I had a friend come from San Francisco on Saturday. She said it was raining in her area of San Francisco. She gets on US101 and it’s sunny. Going across the bridge it’s foggy. It’s clear here.
SFO and SJC get a lot of fog. Yet OAK, only 11 miles across the bay from SFO (you can see one from the other), hardly gets fog dense enough to close the airport.
Here is an example of what dami is talking about from this morning:

KOAK 161453Z 00000KT 1/2SM FG OVC001 11/11
KSJC 161453Z 00000KT 1 1/2SM BR FEW001 BKN002 OVC005
and then over the hill:

Well, maybe this wasn’t a good day for an example. But he is right, I flew out of OAK for several years and only once that I remember did we have to use rwy 29 because 27R was below minimums while 29 was above minimums. (just) I bet Castro Valley is clear though.
Man that’s some good VFR in northern Alaska, what are those sissy’s complain’ about
i won’t mention the guys name- but I know a guy that landed in Kaltag AK in 1/8 mile (VFR) in blowing snow.
