Readsb auto gain

I have a portable unit running PiAware and @wiedehopf version of readsb . The portable version was mainly to be used at a local municipal aerodrome to track aircraft that are landing or taking off within around 200/300 meters of my antenna. I know the adsb transmitters at some local airports are switched on late but am wondering; as auto-gain is the default for readsb and I get a lot of overhead traffic at around 8000 to 16000 feet will this affect signals from the local traffic?

My location gets commercial aircraft for Heathrow, Luton and Stanstead passing over so am wondering if the auto-gain is adjusting for the commercial traffic rather than the close by local planes.

Geoff Lane

adjusts for the strongest signal.

Best to test and observe.
