The link I followed last time was this one: Howto Install Piaware 3.8.1 on Ubuntu Server 20.04 arm64 / Pi4
I couldn’t complete all the steps because Piaware was already installed, but I overwrote everything I could, following the steps in both Dump1090-fa and Piaware one by one. It’s possible that some dependency was present here but wasn’t installed in the other repository. I don’t know what caused the problem, but this process resolved everything. I hope it helped you too. Best regards.
Actually during building of piaware for ubuntu22 jammy, a dependency tcl-tls
is build using source code tcltls-rebuild
. This one gives lot of error messages, but in-spite of these it builds package tcl-tls
successfully. Even in the manual method you linked, it has the step “3.2 - Build & Install dependency tcl-tls from source code
”… You must have seen same error messages during this step.
I dont understand why you failed to build piaware using following bash script. I have just now successfully build and installed piaware ver 10.0 using this script on Armbian Jammy.
sudo bash -c "$(wget -O - https://raw.githubusercontent.com/abcd567a/piaware-ubuntu-debian-amd64/master/install-piaware.sh)"
After building ver 10 packages, I have replaced ver 9.0 packages by ver 10 packages on my following repository at Github:
ubuntu22/README.md at master · abcd567a/ubuntu22 · GitHub
Hello again. Suddenly and for no apparent reason, Piaware has stopped working again. I’ve rebooted the system and we’re back to square one. I haven’t touched anything or installed anything new, and when I queried my data uploaded to the Piaware server, I saw that it’s disconnected from dupm1090-fa as before. This is a rather strange issue. I’ve looked for causes, and I don’t know if the problem mentioned about tcl-tls at GitHub - flightaware/piaware_builder: Debian package builder for piaware could be what’s affecting me and causing the system to crash at certain times. However, this is only happening in the Piaware cloud, as it continues to work fine locally. The comment about tcl-tls refers to configuring tcltls with --enable-ssl-fastpath. I don’t know if this is a solution or the cause, but I wouldn’t lose anything by trying. Any suggestions?
Maybe using the same unique FA station id on two systems or something?
Just check dump1090-fa and piaware log locally as described before.
Makes sense, everyone has different set ups. Was just checking in case. I see that you resolved it. Good on ya.

piaware log AND dump1090-fa log
not just one of them.
The manual method you used to build Piaware includes building & installing tcltls-rebuild
, as recommended on Flightaware site. The bash script which you used earlier also builds & installs tcltls-rebuild
I dont think it is a problem, as since yesterday on Armbian Jammy, I am using piaware package built by bash script, and no issues.
Couple of hours ago, I have uploaded to my Github repository, these version 10 packages built for Ubuntu 22 Jammy. You can install these by following commands:
STEP-1: Add repository to sources list
sudo wget -O /etc/apt/sources.list.d/abcd567a.list https://abcd567a.github.io/ubuntu22/abcd567a.list
sudo wget -O /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/abcd567a-key.gpg https://abcd567a.github.io/ubuntu22/KEY2.gpg
sudo apt update
STEP-2: Install packages
sudo apt install dump1090-fa
sudo apt install piaware
sudo apt install piaware-web
sudo apt install dump978-fa ## For USA only
STEP-3: After installation is completed, remove repository added in STEP-1:
sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/abcd567a.list
sudo rm /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/abcd567a-key.gpg
sudo apt update
luis@armbian:~$ sudo journalctl -u dump1090-fa -n 10

It’s working again, but that’s not enough log.
Both logs at the same time otherwise it isn’t useful.
piaware is probably working again as well.
The SDR might just be defective or not getting enough voltage.
Hello again. I’ve been testing this whole weekend. The last thing I did was install a new image of Armbian, the latest version 25.05.0, and Noble Ubuntu 24.04, on the SD card. I installed dump1090-fa, Piaware, and fr24feeder, and so far everything is working perfectly. I wanted to install rbfeeder as well, but the official installation script gave me several errors, making it impossible to install. Initially, they were Secure8 key errors, and I used the trick of tricking the script by changing the Version line to Bullseye, but it gave me another error about libraries that it supposedly couldn’t install, and it turns out they’re already installed. If you know of a way to install rbfeeder for my new version of Armbian, I’d appreciate it. Best regards.
First:
sudo apt --fix-broken install
Next:
(a) If you already have a key:
sudo rbfeeder --setkey ‹your sharing key›
(b) If you dont have a key
sudo rbfeeder
The solution you suggested didn’t resolve the issue. I’ve re-run the installation script so you can see what the installation returns. Although the installation is reported as completed successfully, it isn’t, and the rbfeeder service doesn’t exist:

You used wrong VERS.(bullseye)
Ubuntu Noble is based on Debian 12 Bookworm
Use VERS=bookworm
Note: bookworm, NOT Bookworm
25.05.0 is not the latest version, 25.2.2 is the latest
I have modified bullseye for bookworm but now the key error and distribution error appear earlier. I’ll paste you the last thing that comes out of the process:
Warning: apt-key is deprecated. Manage keyring files in

The script failed to detect version is bookworm. May be due to a typing mistake you made during editing it.
can you please open RB24 installation sh file, and take a screenshot of the area containing VERS=bookworm
, as well 2 lines above it & 2 lines below it?
if [ “$(id -u)” != “0” ]; then
echo -e “You must run this script with root privileges” 1>&2

Regarding my new system version, I don’t know if it’s the latest, but it’s the most current one I’ve found that’s compatible with my Amlogic device. I’ll share the details of the installed system.
