piaware feeder crashing - cause MLAT?

#1

Looks like something to do with fa-mlat-client. Other feeders and obj’s MLAT still running.

piaware.out after restarting the client with “sudo service piaware start” 20 minutes after service stopped:

Slightly at a loss about how that error could possibly happen…

What do you mean by “service stopped”? Was piaware still running but not doing anything? Or had the piaware process exited?
What time did you restart it?
Is there anything in dmesg output that looks suspicious? (e.g. out-of-memory killer)

#3

piaware was not running and was not visible in top. It looked like the feeder had just crashed.

I’m not sure about dmesg, I looked through it and couldn’t see anything but I find it hard to tell as the entries don’t have a timecode.

#4

Yeah, no idea what’s happened there tbh. That error should be impossible, “time” is a module and nothing ever assigns to it.

I’m going to wave my hands and say “CPU overload” and hope it goes away once we fix that

#5

This is a Pi2 and I hope that’s not the cause, though looking at top it’s certainly higher than I have ever seen before.

Make sure you’re running the latest beta, v2.0-3, which is available here: ads-b-flight-tracking-f21/multilateration-mlat-beta-t27073.html

#7

OK, thanks. I was on v2.0-2, updated now.
