Outside Aerial Lightening precautions?

Advice please. I am new to ADSB1090. Currently running setups with an aerial in my loft which actually seems to get reasonable reception but certain areas are blocked by buildings and hill to East of the house. I am considering getting a 30foot collapsible aerial mast which I would affix to my garage and it would clear my house roofline. Might not improve my line of site reception as much as I hope because house is on side of a hill halfway up the hill.
My question is, what precautions do I need to take with regard to Lightening and the aerial.

Lightning Arrestor

Hello once more! I’m building my Raspberry Pi ADS-B tracker and I am going to use a collinear antenna on top of a 3meter mast. After the Raspberry Pi I will have a direct ethernet connection with my ethernet switch (with something like 20m Cat6 cable).
