Even if it is a genuine FA antenna, why one should pay $109 when one can get it for $44? The only reason one will be tempted to buy it is if FA antenna is out of stock, or delivery time is very long, and the buyer is not ready to wait.
I did not check, but what is the difference between two sellers for:
(1) shipments to US locations?
(2) shipment to NON-US locations?
This won’t help. They hold no inventory. These “resellers” are just fishing for any suckers who might accidentally buy from them. If someone does buy this antenna from them, they will simply buy one from FA at that time, send it on and pocket the difference.
Xmas is here. Got the antenna, but had to do away with the filter because of the connector musical chairs. Tripled my coverage and that is indoors. Now I’ll test some tweaks to see if I can improve coverage a bit more. Very happy.
Several are waiting on this antenna, if you’re still planing on selling it. No one seems to be willing to comment. It was stated that it would be available after thanksgiving, but it didn’t happen.
Amp? Amp/filter combo? Could be considered "antenna"ish.
Still RF, but FA narrowband dongle with really good processing?
Open source processor?
obj (or someone) has developed finer tuning control sw for the dongle?
Unfortunately, I’m in the same boat as abcd567, Amazon (both US and CA) wont ship an antenna and filter to Australia - is there any other way (apart from wifi-expert on fleabay) that I can get an antenna and filter?
Hey guys, I finally had my new FA antenna running for an entire day. Had gotten some water intrusion into my old antenna after the really bad storms we had here right after Christmas, so I started to look at ways to protect my quarter wave ground plane home build. Ended up just biting the bullet and buying the FA antenna. I wish I had a good virtual radar screenshot of the best my prior antenna offered, but I think the end result speaks for itself. I would say I gained about 25-30%% (based on the performance of my station against another local station).
I’m running the antenna through 15ft of LMR240 on the second highest peak of my single story house. No filter or amplifier in-line. Strangely, my performance beyond 300 miles has dropped quite a bit, but the overall message quantity is way up.
