We must have had a run on them recently; we’ll have more on the way shortly.

I don’t know about the DPD outdoor antenna. I use the DPD indoor blade antenna, and I installed it and the FlightAware 26" antenna in the same spot, and the FA antenna picks up 30-40% fewer position reports than the FA antenna, so I returned the FA antenna.
I use the DPD outdoor antenna 1090Mhz Antenna. I liked it so much I have ordered the 978Mhz antenna.
I can’t recall doing a direct comparison, however, the DPD antenna does work well.
Hi all,
notice last 10 days significant drop in range and message count. Suspected something wrong with antenna/feeder as we had a hard winter time with strong wind snow and ice. Now weather more less allowing me to check installation. It turned out that FA antenna got some water inside which confirmed my suspicions. Close inspection show that most probably water got inside where fiberglass is glued to metal part in lower end of the antenna. epoxy seems cracked although cracks are very fine and one would not suspect something wrong, but water is water gets his way everywhere.
I got out top of the antenna relatively easy (on the inner surface of the tap there were drops of condensed water) and saw inside that the centerpiece of the antenna is being supported by a plastic foam. I did not disassemble antenna and just wonder how long it will take to get dry. That foam thing is worrying me. I have seen coax feeders with foam insulation and once water got in this feeder needed replacement and never got dry.
Any ideas appreciated. Thanks

Hi Eric,
I just received 2 antennas. Please note that the specification available in several places is wrong:
“mounted on a mast that is 2cm to 5cm”
The bracket DOES NOT fit a standard 50mm antenna mast, unfortunately. Very annoying, the bracket is around 45mm ID.

Regarding how to dry FA antenna I can suggest to remove top of the antenna and put the antenna in the oven set to 60-80 deg C for about several hours. Then check it and repeat procedure again if needed.
As I suspected this plastic foam thing was soaked so drying would take looooong time in room temperature conditions.
The other way is to disassemble the antenna by removing the fiberglass tube, but I have no idea how to do that (unless you cut the tube).
Then it will dry very fast in room conditions, afterwards assemble it back.
If somebody knows how to remove fibreglass tube on non destructive way, please share the knowledge with community.
Looks like these are out of stock in the UK just now, both on Amazon UK and ModMyPi. Any ideas when they’ll be available again?
ModMyPi has moved things around in the store. The antenna can be found here: modmypi.com/electronics/ant … 6cm–26in/
Or you can just search “FlightAware” on modmypi.com.
Excellent, ta.

… But still using the wrong specification.

The mount size measurement has been corrected on modmypi.com. Thanks for pointing out the issue.
I just got the FA antennna and the Prostick. I had a homemade j-pole and saw around 104nm. Now i am getting almost 180nm. Cant wait to set it up on the roof once the summer comes.
Looks like the antenna is out of stock on Amazon at the moment. Any idea of a return to stock date?

I am in need of one in the USA. Amazon is my preferred. Any idea when they will have them in stock?
Thx,
Steve
No reply on the US Supply? You have a run on them here? I noticed there are a lot of bundles but I already bought FA receivers and filters.
Steve
There is another batch on the way but there have been some shipping issues that need to be sorted out before they can head to Amazon. No ETA at the moment.
