How about N510KS? I’ve been tracking it for months. flightaware.com/live/flight/N510KS

Well you’re a Cessna guy LOL  How many prototypes are out there? Do you think the Mustang will stick around or be a fad? Certainly opens the market a little for those who don’t have 8 or 10 mill lol.

Well, I don’t really know to much about the Mustang. I think VLJs in general are a joke, especially the Eclipse 500. But Cessna has done a GREAT job with the Citation series and I am reluctant to slam the hammer on Cessna because of their past history of success. They probably made the Mustang because there know there will be a few people who really want a jet.

Here is the million dollar page! (Hint: To make this page even more effective, scroll down to the bottom and work up.)

According to FLYING (December 2006 issue) the Cessna Mustang has 250 orders and production is sold out into 2009. By contrast, earlier Citation models 550, 560 and 525 took five years to sell/build 250 units of each. These have long been considered the best selling business jets. Based on that criteria, I think you can call the Mustang program a success.

definitely, this market is going to explode in a few years. Aviation will be pioneered by the VLJ in a few years when it comes to personal aviation “firsts” and the overall introduction of even more technology in our skies

I’m told a lot of VLJ programs never take off (pun intended) and they end up losing their shirts, but I agree, I think Cessna’s jet reputation precedes itself and the Mustang will do well.

As posted elsewhere the Eclipse has got its first order out 31st Dec. I think competition against the Mustang will prove difficult because of Cessna’s solid reputation, market base and tried n’ tested products.

I too think the projected sales in the VLJ market are ambitious to say the least with the losers likely to be Grob and Embraer with their models, not because of poor design but other factors that inhibit their use beyond the designers control i.e airpace/slots/skilled pilots/price of fuel and too much competition. I dont think the huge growth will really happen.

Sporty’s Auctioning Off Mustang

Here’s your chance to buy one of the very first Cessna Mustangs and help a great cause. Hal Shevers of Sporty’s Pilot Shop got position number 13 when Cessna began taking deposits on the much-anticipated entry in the entry-level jet market, and since he already has a Citation it was natural to assume that he would be flying it himself. He’s apparently happy with his current ride and will, instead, auction off the $2.7 million airplane online to support The Sporty’s Foundation, which supports youth-oriented aviation education and safety programs. “This is an exciting airplane and a unique chance for on of our customers to own a Mustang right now,” said Shevers. The bidding begins June 4 and ends June 8, and bidders must pre-register.

The Sporty’s Mustang is white with charcoal gray metallic, black metallic and coral red pearl accents and the cabin has platinum accents. The airplane cruises at 340 knots up to 41,000 feet and features the Garmin G1000 system with the largest-format glass cockpit displays available.
