Was tracking N47FA (a Cirrus SR22) out of Jacksonville, FL, heading for Mountain Air, NC (2NC0). The page refreshed (10:50am CDT) and the map icon for N47FA disappeared, maybe 20 miles to the SSW of Augusta, GA.
Probably nothing, maybe they dipped low for some sightseeing. Hope it’s nothing.
There it is, just saw it land via webcam. Dicey landing, though.
Wonder why planes sometimes drop off track like that?
They most likely have canceled the IFR flight plan and did not receive VFR advisories. That would cause the flight to no longer be tracked.
We don’t usually receive positions for aircraft going in to small airports after they stop talking to center.
