N200AP Citation X in PBI incident.

Small planes nearly collide at Palm Beach airport

Two small planes had a close call last week at Palm Beach International Airport, the Federal Aviation Administration said Tuesday.

According to FAA spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen, at about 10:35 a.m. Saturday a departing Cessna Citation business jet was told by air traffic controllers to hold at the end of a runway. Instead it taxied and began its takeoff as a Cessna 152 single-engine plane conducting ‘‘touch and go’’ practice was approaching.

Controllers saw the Citation start to take off and ordered it to make an immediate right turn; it went below and behind the landing Cessna 152, Bergen said.

She did not know how close the planes came to each other but said neither pilot filed a ‘‘near midair collision’’ report.

The Cessna Citation is registered to Lifestyle Aviation of Coburg, Ore. A woman who answered the phone said no one was available to discuss the incident.

Flightaware N200AP Citation 750.

Arnie’s old plane!

I think it’s owned by Marathon Coach now. They just got the Ciation X to replace a Westwind. They make the entertainer / race car driver private coaches built on the Prevost chassis. They also have a G-IV N8MC.
