It's that time of year again. QFA290x

Over the next five months, until March 2020, keep an eye open for flight numbers QFA2901 through QFA2909 for upcoming activity.

These are the sightseeing flights to Antarctica from various places in Australia. There are usually about half a dozen flights during that time.

After the event, the whole flight track can be seen for a few days on the map at https://flightaware.com/adsb/coverage#data-coverage as it was fully tracked by the Aireon space-based ADS-B receivers on board the IridiumNEXT satellite constellation.

During the flight, parts of the track are missing as the aircraft spends a lot of time outside of the reception range of the ground-based ADS-B receivers in Australia and New Zealand. Live flight tracking is not yet augmented with live data derived from satellite reception of ADS-B signals.
