Thanks, Tom, for putting that up! I surely appreciate you being a great coach for me over the past year!
Thanks Tom!!
I followed your instructions and ended up here…
At the bottom it said “apt-listchanges: Reading changelogs…” and then about 3-4 minutes later popped up with the "Putty fatal error’ as shown in the dialog box.
My 1090 receiver is still working, but other than that, I don’t know where I’m at.
J
It seems your ssh session was terminated.
Login via putty again and run the the following commands:
Sudo apt update
Followed by
Sudo apt upgrade -y
The first command will show you if there are packages to update and the second command will execute those updates.
Then try the installation of graphs1090 again.
Tom,
I ran the two commands you posted, and then the ‘graphs 1090’ command and here is where I’m at today.
It won’t progress past this point.
J
Do you use a static IP address for the Rpi via your router?
That solved a ton of stability/connectivity issues (save utility power outages ) for me.
Your system has 158 packages to update so that will take some time. You haven’t updated for a while so that is needed at this point in time. When it finishes then run the graphs1090 command. Just wait for the prompt to return.
Sorry Vic, I don’t know what that means.
J
Your router sometimes decides how to connect to the internet. You can tell it to connect one way. All the time.
…google DHCP versus Static IP. That may help. Keep asking good questions.
Heck, I even got @wiedehopf to yell at me once.
No sweat. Esoterica.
Vic,
I’m using T-Mobile At Home 5G Internet. The router may as well be a piece of stone…it won’t let me do nothing!
I’ll check out DHCP vs Static IP. I used to fly a DHC-6…I reckon they’re not the same.
J
Either that, start over, or erase the stack consistenly.
I think I learned that reading a RAM article years ago.
LOL “I used to fly a DHC-6…”!
I never came close, sir.
Tom,
This is what I have at the 25 minute mark.
I’m still letting it run…until instructed otherwise.
J
Try to imagine a twin turbine Cub.
You should be able to reset the installing using Ctrl + C or Ctrl + Z
Your system isn’t running on the correct time.
Your RPi’s clock’s time and/or timezone is wrongly set which is causing this problem.
set these correctly by following commands;
Time Zone:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure tzdata
Local Time
sudo timedatectl
set-time TIME `
In above command, replace TIME by your Local Time hr:min:sec
Haha! Nice.
“Don’t be afraid to use the rudder.”
…when you need to.
Tom,
OK, 33rd try was the charm!!! I feel like I’ve given birth.
You have many thanks from me!
Pretty colors!! I’ve even figured out what some of them mean.
How do I copy and post the Graphs1090 image to the forum?
J
You can navigate to the graphs1090 page from your webbrowser at your computer. In Windows you have a program called snipping tool. Use it to make a screenshot, save the picture and upload it in the forum. In the reply box you will see a small picture on the top , click that, select the picture you made and save the reply. This will upload the picture to the forum.
In Windows, right-click on the graph you want to post. A drop-down menu will open. On this menu, clock on “Copy Image”. The graph will be copied to clipboard. Now open the forum and put cursor in your reply and press Ctrl+V keys. The graph will be copied to your reply.
To all my teachers…here’s what I have so far…
Many thanks to all who chimed in to teach this grizzly old buzzard some new tricks!!
J
Your graphs look fine for this moment, maybe post a second series after 24 hrs, that will give some more insight
