How to post photos, etc.

we get you there… even though all of our flights are met with fire trucks. .

I love that picture. Horizon Air - Wings Of The Great Northwest. Horizon Air - We Get Ya There!

He was coming in with hydraulic trouble. We send a full assignment of 3 engines and a truck to supplement PDX crash crews - just in case.

A polite poster - how refreshing.

Are you sitting at the end of 28L? if he touched down half way down y’all had a long drive!!

Isn’t it 10L? That’s South Staging just off NE 82nd Ave. Either way, it’s a loooong drive, especially if they’re evacuating the A/C.

Something changed big time (not surprised another new person goes to lurk mode) since your post Az…

If you can’t say something nice about someone… be sure to post it here!!!

How did I become the polite poster child? :open_mouth:

They probably just bought a few million dollars worth of new fire engines and didn’t want to get them dirty.

Some people are just plain rude! Imagine calling you - or any poster on FlightAware - polite! Well, the nerve of it all!

That’d be 28L.

28R is backed up against Marine Dr.

10R is on the side of NE 33rd drive. I took off and landed at that airport 5 days a week for a year and a half.

but regardless you’re right about the long drive. I’d be better to stage on the UPS ramp. shorter drive

I think it’s hasty to blame the site. Two possibilities:
The default behavior on FA when you click on the link is to pop up the new page in a new window or tab. This is a nice feature, IMHO. But for you perhaps the new tab is underneath the window in which you were reading this thread and clicking. For me, the new tab pops up in front. (The pop-under thing has snagged me a half-dozen times.)

Something weird is happening with your browser. This is a lame answer, because I haven’t got any specific ideas how this would happen; or actually there are lots of ways that are all mysterious. The solution is also lame: quit and restart the browser, or log off/on, or restart the computer.

Anyway, I hope the knuckle-draggers don’t put you off forever. You kinda caught people sitting on the couch in their underwear. It does get better: the same knuckle-draggers can be very helpful sometimes.

Hmm??? When I click on a FAQ from flightaware.com/about/faq.rvt **some of the answers **take the user back here. I think that is what Kyuko meant (that’s how I interpret it). If you click a question within the FAQ, it never leaves the web page, just links you to the answer below the question.

Strangely enough, from the live section in the above FAQ, there are no references about FAQ on uploading or managing photo files (deletions) in the photo section.

From the photo section it takes you to the above live FAQ so I would suspect Kyuko brings out a pretty good point as one FAQ is “How do I delete a photo” and that answer cannot be found in the FAQ’s.

I am guessing when you make your above statement you hold yourself in the same grouping :imp: I held an olive branch out to the op and made clear my joke…which obviously is still over his or her head. I don’t have to like every new person who posts in here. I thought I was clear on another post I had made. Just in case I wasn’t let me say it again. I have made plenty of friends outside this forum. I also have what I’d consider friends on this forum. I don’t need to please everyone in here. Before you ask the question…because you’ve asked it before (I believe it was you to either myself or another poster) if I’d speak to someone on the street the same as in here the answer is YES. I’m not afraid to say what needs to be said…and if push comes to shove I’m for that as well.

Aren’t you all glad I took my recurrent this morning on “Work place violance” :stuck_out_tongue:

Maybe I don’t understand what you’re seeing. When I open that FAQ, all the links in it point to other locations within that page – equivalent to scrolling up and down. (That’s a very simple, clean HTML construct.) Did you say you also found links in the FAQ pointing back into e.g. here? I don’t see any of that, and I can’t figure out how it would ever happen even accidentally. (FA programmers would have to go to some trouble to make it work that way.) So my experience is I’ve never seen the FAQ page behave in any way I didn’t understand.

Yes indeed, that’s a problem. I even went to flightaware.com/photos/ and then clicked on “Questions/Answers,” just in case that pointed to a different FAQ page, just for photos. (It doesn’t.) So I guess the entire Photos section of FA has no instruction manual. No wonder we see so many questions on it.

Yes, I’m a knuckle-dragger too.
I know where you were coming from, and I give you a lot of credit for the olive branch. (I always feel 100 times better about somebody who readily fesses up to mistakes or regrets.) But that was the wrong moment to vent about a long-standing annoyance that Kyuko didn’t know about. Better to hold your tongue and regret it than to let fly and regret it.
Kyuko came with a question, apparently got glancing answers, acted impatient, and the conversation turned testy. We’re not entirely to blame, but we could do better.

Yep, I can confirm that for me, as well, clicking on any of the links in the Discussion FAQS redirects to the Discussions Index instead of the appropriate anchor lower on the FAQ page.

BING BING BING!!!
OK, I get it. I was looking only in Questions/Answers. In the FAQDiscussions, with your description, I quickly found the source of the problem:

<base href="http://discussions.flightaware.com/">

That just needs to be removed.
I found it about halfway down the HTML source, right after the comment END FLIGHTAWARE. My guess is it was left in from a round of debugging; at least that’s how I use that tag.

So I think that’s going to repair the problem with the URLs in the Discussions FAQ bouncing back to the discussion forums. Does anybody find a similar problem with the Questions/Answers?

I think you’re 100% correct on this one… I put the entire page code into an editor and deleted that specific line and it solved the problem for me. Nice find dadalope!

I probably wasn’t clear in my response re-reading it. The questions correctly hyperlink to the answer, but the “text” of the answers said if you had additional questions, come here. Kinda of a loop in the text sense, not the links.

I know there is another thread discussing the FAQ’s and the complexities and it is ver confusing even for use long timers when trying to tell noobs that there are two FAQ’s to consider. Heck, I didn’t realize you were talking about the discussion FAQ until your posting.

Apparently not many people really pay that close attention to the following URLS

flightaware.com/live/
discussions.flightaware.com/

Clicking on FAQ yields wildly different documents.

I still think in order to help the noobs realize they are working on different servers with different functions that the menu’s on the left side should be a different color or different something. Then it will be clear to them they are working on a different subsystem even if the menus do cross the server boundaries.

Even better would be to change the text of “questions and answers” to Discussion Forums Question and Answers and Flight Aware Question and Answers on the appropriate links.

I think his original questions were answered in a direct way. Here’s his original posting:

I responded with the following:

He appears to have a problem that some people have here. He needs backup to anything told him. He’s the type that if you said “Reno is west of Denver” or “the sun raises in the east” he’d make you prove it with hard documentation.

He couldn’t follow my simple directions so he blows up. Notice he attempts to post a picture from pbase but it doesn’t work because he didn’t follow the directions. He entered the URL for the jpeg but did not use any img tags.

He says it doesn’t work in his next reply:
