I currently am running a NewElec stick with a line amp, DC blockers and the FlightAware antenna and filter. I have the new flight stick and will put it in tomorrow. I know to dump the amp, the DC blockers and move the filter from the base of the antenna to the input of the stick.
I’m a real kutz on the PI2. I just followed the instructions, loaded the software on the card and it ran.
I understand I may have to adjust the gain. How? In 3rd grade steps please.
I’ve never done anything to the PI before and have no idea how to fiddle with it. I can program dot-net like a champ but I need some hand-holding on this.
It should just be a case of powering down the Pi, swapping the external components, powering it back up again.
If you need to adjust the dump1090 gain (with a filter and no external amp, you probably don’t) there are some basic instructions here: flightaware.com/adsb/prostick/setup/
Thanks. I looked at that page and here’s the kicker:
How or where do I enter those commands (if needed?)
Can I use the “Send command to device” entry area on my ADS-B site page?
You will need to run them from a command-line shell on the Pi itself.
You can either connect a HDMI monitor + USB keyboard to the Pi and log in directly, or you can use a ssh client such as PuTTY to connect to the Pi over the network. In both cases, use username pi / password flightaware.
