How can I delete unwanted tail numbers from the past that pop up on the Flight/Tail# drop down list?

If I understand your question correctly, your problem is a windows based problem for suggested or autocompletion entries.
Put your mouse cursor over the number in the list that is displayed and then push the delete key. That should remove the entry. Repeat as needed for other tail numbers.
