This happens with a small number of flights… generally they are headed from the NYC area to ORD or thereabouts. This one is UAL345, LGA to ORD. Any idea why I am seeing this? Piaware 3.0.4. Thanks.

Are they always mlat?
If so, it is probably that they’re in an unstable part of the solution space given their position and the receiver geometry (in this situation there are two solutions that fit the mlat data well, and the solver may be picking the wrong one here). The solver tries to avoid this situations by requiring data from a few more receivers than are strictly necessary, but there are still some cases where the receivers are just in the wrong places.
Thank you. As I recall, the 3 or 4 I checked were Mlat. I won’t worry about it. This is the first time I noticed it, so it is not a normal occurrence.
