Flight Alert Question

Depending on how configurable your mail and IM clients are, you may be able to use my flight alert tone that should be very recognizable.

You are correct. IM alerts are working again! Gosh, I love FA and the IM feature, it’s so handy and cool too! :stuck_out_tongue:

I love the alerts. They rock. Is there, could there be a link to the alerts page so we can just click between our alerts and the flight we are tracking? When I set up and alert, I have to re-enter my flight info to track that flight. Unless of course, I’m doing it wrong.

Thanks. Great site. Very valuable as I can track my Fight Attendant Fiance’s flights.

Next to the flight id is a link to create an alert:
CJA8755 (all flights) (alert me)

The “all flights” alert shows all flights operated by, in this case, CJA.

My Verizon flight alerts are working and I don’t know how I’d function without them. What a great feature!!! THANK YOU FLIGHTAWARE FOLKS!!!

Is there a way to add whose plane it is. Hard keeping track.

How do I set up an alert for only one flight.

And where is the option for SMS? I see only phone e-mail.

jj

You’ll have to manually disable or delete the alert after the flight.

Click on the “(What’s my cell phone’s e-mail address?)” link in your profile to determine your phone’s email address. Your carrier will then convert our email into a text message.

So, I put in my phone number as xxxxx@cingularme.com.

What I want to know is is this sent as an SMS or as an email? If its an email, it means that I would have to pull it into my phone manually.

Want I want it to come as is SMS so that its pushed.

jj

Your carrier will convert the message to an SMS, so it will be pushed to your phone.

I have been away from this for awhile, but am back in the swing. I am not getting alerts via Jabber/gtalk anymore again. I have not changed my profile info (other than to test and changed it back). I have tried using pidgin and the gtalk web based feature, neither have gotten an alert. MY email does work with the alerts, however.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Why am I limited to only 5 alerts?..is it just me?

never mind…I found my answer…

I have never been able to receive alerts via Jabber. I’ve added (as suggested) “alerts@alerts.flightaware.com” to my contacts using Pidgin, but it just says “Not Authorized”.

Does anyone have this working from Google Talk?

Jabber and AIM alerts have not been implemented.

Jabber and AIM alerts have not been implemented.

If that’s true, the alerts web interface needs to be updated. It says “coming soon” for AIM, but not for Jabber.

I’d like to add a suggestion as well to have say, a check box option to have alerts sent more than once. Some of us are tracking just one flight and it would be more convenient to set the alert in one visit to track it either just today, or every day, and not have to come back and disable it.

Also, why are my alerts not showing the actual wheels up and wheels down time? For example I received my text alert today at 11:41 pm that said my flight had landed, but not what time it landed. I had to come back to the website to see it touched down at 11:36. It would be nice to have that down or up time sent to me as well. I don’t have a “smart” phone just a regular cell so the link to the flight sent to me is useless.

That’s been requested a lot and is coming soon.

The difference is due to our feed from the FAA being 5 minutes delayed, we can’t sent the arrival message until we know about it. But we should include the time.

  1. Thank you for adding this feature.

  2. Yes if you could include the actual times in the alerts even more thanks.
