I believe FlightAware uses some type of automatic map size decider thingy. However, this is creating a problem. Sometimes when I look at a flight, the map is too small to be useful. For example, UAL902 is so small, I can’t see anything. This is on Safari 5.1.5 for Mac. I tried with Chrome, and it was slightly bigger. http://i1164.photobucket.com/albums/q577/AvengerRT/SmallMapSafari-1.jpg
Here it is with Chrome 20.0.1096.1, which is a bit better. http://i1164.photobucket.com/albums/q577/AvengerRT/SmallMapChrome.jpg
It’s a function of the combination of your platform and browser. These are supposed to be transparent but they are not, and the reasons why vary.
Bad website syntax;
Bad browser interpretation;
Local settings;
and so on.
I use SP/Firefox which I find to be the most tolerant and stable, but obviously not everyone can.
You can expand the map by clicking the ‘four arrows’ icon at the bottom.
(BTW anyone else find Chrome to be agonizingly slow, despite its claims to the contrary ?)
The cabin line is set to not wrap, which forces the table to be quite wide. I’ll get that fixed.
This is scheduled to be fixed tomorrow at 5pm.
Great, thanks.
Yes, it’s awful on all of my machines.
Looks much better now, thanks.
The small map is back. I have an image with Safari, and Chrome is only slightly bigger. It looks a lot better on Firefox, but the text is unreadably small. I think that is just because I didn’t change the font size. I have a feeling that if I changed it to a better size, the map would be small. I can test, if you would like. I have pictures, but they are currently not working. I will try to get this fixed. I think it is because the owner line is set to not wrap, this time. See N448H.

It’s a problem with small windows, at about 1280 pixels wide it’s normal.
Will be adjusted to support lower resolution computers on Monday at our 5pm Eastern release.
