I run two Pi Awares one at our home in PA, and one at our winter place in Florida. I usually shut down the winter location for about 6 months a year. However I’m looking at remote monitoring just temperature and humidity a Florida. That will take almost no data, so I am planning on a MIFI router with about 2 gigs of data a month available. That leave me with quite a bit of overhead available. I average about 270,000 position reports daily I have not been able to relate position reports to data useage. Does anyone have any insight on this? I know turning MLAT will help, and I really only get a few hundred postiions via MLAT, so that is pretty irrelevent. I’ve read a few of the threads about data useage, but I’m wondering if there is a better insight. TIA
Look at this post here, it will guide you through a setup of the application called vnstat and vnstati:
This will give you more insight on how much bandwidth your site is using.
Based on some days or maybe even a month of monitoring you can decide which bandwidth is needed for your purpose.
