I recently purchased the 2 channel version interested from others to know what coax cable I need do have spare RG58,LMR400.

If you have LMR400, that will have significantly less loss at 1090Mhz than RG58 would, thus LMR400 would be the preferred option.

The DAISY HAT receives VHF signals in the Marine band of 156.000 to 162.000 range.
Any low loss coax with an antenna that is comparable to the Marine band VHF will work.

The Daisy Hat has nothing to do with the ADS-B frequency range.
RG-58, RG-58X, RG-8 or any smaller 50 Ohm coax will work. VHF is much more line-of-sight than ADS-B (1090 Mhz), so height, clear visibility, and distance from antenna to ships, is more important to VHF signals.
I no longer have a AIS receiver operating, but I did have one about 12 miles, line-of-sight from the Atlantic ocean, at about 14 ft. to the bottom of the antenna. It worked very well.

Mine died from a static/indirect close by lightning strike that fried the Daisy Hat. I decided not to replace the Hat, and gave up the location that it was located in. It did work very well while it was operating. I was using a 2 meter 1/4 wave Ham antenna tuned to close to the 161.000/162.000 Mhz range. Then I switched to a Marine fiberglass dipole antenna manufactured specifically for the Marine radio band. That worked much better.

Awesome information thank you i do realize that vhf signal is a line of sight in which when i used LMR400 cable on my airband commercial antennas it increased the signal dramatically compare to RG58 i am new to AIS and the antennas i am looking at are the Shakespeare.
