I’ve often seen Whitetops transiting my immediate airspace enroute to McGuire AFB to await AF1’s arrival in order to provide transport to the NYC area.
They rack up a lot more than 15 minute flight legs, but these costs are quickly becoming ludicrous for a fast helo.
I have a friend from High school who was an Aircraft commander on Marine 1 and I actually remember him doing a trip from DC to PHL with our commander in briefs aboard! (clinton that is!)
My how times have changed. Look at Bam’s first AF1 trip to the House Democrats Issues Conference in Williamsburg, Virginia. This guy is criticizing private jet use???

He (bama) wants us all to tighten our belts and give him our hard earned money so he can waste it on heating the white house (reports are in that its warm in that place now) and flying AF1 all over the country. I’m sure glad he told the terrorists Americans weren’t the enemy, sure made me sleep better at night. I’m going to quit working so he can’t get another darn helicopter he doesn’t deserve. Can you tell I’m mad, in his first month in office he has outspent Bush’s 8 years.
I felt the same dread when Bush took office, especially 2004. I knew the stuff I was already stewing about would only get worse, and to cap it off, he claimed a mandate and declared “my way or the highway”. So I understand the feeling, from across the aisle.
FWIW, it appears to me that Dems and GOP agree roughly on the scale of deficit budgeting that is needed to stimulate the economy and stabilize banking; they mainly disagree on the balance of tax cuts vs. spending. I think comparing Obama’s to Bush’s deficits is apples-oranges, because the economy was superhot back then, and it ain’t now.
Looks like Gates is cutting it, along with the F-22…

Seriously, I think the president should never leave the white house, there is phone , video, pepople can visit him there, it would save billions and billions , on Limos, helicopters airplanes, secret service staff and all that bulllshit.
i want to be a politition, i would get to spend other peoples money, and their unborn children s money, and then if anything good comes from it, i will get the credit, and if it goes bad, i can just walk away and blame it on bipartisan politics or race. what a nice job. There is no down side.

I think there are very few good people that have the stomach for it. Many of them are able because they’re a little mis-wired. Meanwhile we sit home and grouch, which is the easiest of all.
