What would cause a Boeing 737-800 to go from around 480mph to 533mph (which seemed to be its cruising speeds at 37,000 feet in altitude) to then suddenly drop in speed to 211mph and in only around 20 seconds?
I was watching Sun Country air flight SCX536 / SY536 and noticed that in the flight track data. Plus, the plane’s direction went from near north 18d to 137d, I believe. Then, corrected back to around 18d in around that same amount of time. The altitude appears to have remained the same though.
I think you have a faulty measurement instead of odd aircraft behavior in this case.
The aircraft itself isn’t capable of pulling this kind of speed changes in the given time frame.
An outside force could cause these accelerations, but the aircraft would most likely not survive the event. Or at least, it would most likely be badly damaged.
