Altitude Variations

  1. During extended level flight the track log shows isolated wide excursions in altitude that are incorrect and would have required impossible climb/descent rates. Why?

  2. The track log sometimes ends just before the destination is reached and terminates the flight as much as 12 minutes before landing and thousands of feet above field elevation. No cancellation of IFR. The trip time is accordingly incorrect. Why?

  1. See yesterday’s thread on the same topic. Please search the forum before posting.

  2. The FAA tends to send us an arrival message around the time the flight is handed over to local approach or tower.
