I’d like to see the Airport METAR go back earlier in time several more hours, or a little longer history, if possible. Thanks.
How far? It’s done by number of METARs rather than hours, so SPECIs effectively make the time period shorter.
Aw, personally I’d like to see seven or eight hours at least, instead of the approximate five I most often see. It’s no big deal, and this request doesn’t have to do with my flying, but just this morning it would have been nice for a purpose other than flying to have been able to go back longer instead of what’s available because of a storm we had I was interested in. I find FlightAware is useful and nice for other things as well as far as the weather goes, thus my thought on having a little more history if it wasn’t too much trouble.
Like you, I like looking at the historical METARS especially if I am doing multiple approaches and ceilings vary. I use uswx.com/us/stn/?code=c&n=50&stn=kjan
Change the identifier to your airport of choice and how many observations up to 1440 observations
On my day of flying when ceilings are below minimums at my airport, I will have this website up and refresh as the specials come right in when they are issued.
I stopped checking weather years ago- You have to go anyways. Plus if I check the weather before I leave and it’s crappy I’ll be scared the entire flight
