Recently I saw the heating issue of dongle that probably made the tuner chip in board went haywire. Most of the fans I saw having a connection with GPIO pins, I have a touchscreen already attached to it. Can these fans be operated by the USB ports?

Is this a heat issue with the dongle or RPI?
I put my dongles in a metal case and attach a few heatsinks to the case.
The metal case doubles as an RFI shield.
If heat is coming from the RPI then you could try a 6 inch/15cm USB pigtail to increase the distance. It may keep the dongle cooler.
dongle…RPI is cool so far.
