Quite a few web browsers exist for the Pi, but most will hammer the cpu. The lightest seems to be Epiphany (install notes for Pi here). With that installed, you can load your Stats page with the real-time map. You might also look to look at graphs1090 (here) which can give you a load of info about what’s going on ‘under the hood’.
Thanks Tony is there an easy way of getting the page to open at startup and supersede the stats page that you know of.
Not tried it, but how about setting Epiphany to start up automatically as part of the startup sequence, and setting its default page to the desired one?
That was my thoughts thanks for the help Tony.
@BurnRoad Following having had to carry out a full rebuild of my Pi 4, I’ve another possible approach for you. Rather than using the FA image, use the ‘proper’ Pi image, which uses a GUI as standard, and thus includes Firefox, then install FlightAware on that. Remember to copy the flight-aware.config file from your existing install before re-imaging, though, or you’ll end up with another feeder id being assigned to you. If you’re intersted in the details as to how to do this, please do reach out.
Hi Tony thanks for taking the time to reply that was the approach I too just opening a webpage in kiosk mode at start up working perfectly and a nice mini display thanks again.
