Pre-built packages of

- dump978-fa
- piaware-web
Just a thought but allowing FlightAware to update an “unsupported” package might cause issues if the next version of PiAware does not support Python 3.12. Trixie which will default to Python 3.12 is about a year away looking back at Debian release histories and being FlightAware does not seem to concerned about Ubuntu and I can say understandably being they are more RPi driven, not supporting the current LTS running Python 3.12 I would be more tempted to run sudo piaware-config allow-auto-updates no
until I knew for a fact FlightAware added support for Python 3.12+.
Just a thought.
Thanks for looking out for Noble users.
EDIT:
I would run sudo piaware-config allow-manual-updates no
instead of sudo piaware-config allow-manual-updates yes
as well so no one accidently initiates an update via the web interface as well.
It should be noted that by default both are set to no on non-image installs.
sudo systemctl restart piaware
and sudo systemctl restart dump1090-fa
or start instead of a restart ishould suffice for those services if built upon not overly modified source for said services installed over top an existing one if you want to save time on a reboot. Not sure about piaware-web unless it is SkyAware?
Since Flightaware does NOT have any program yet to provide packages for Ubuntu amd64 or Debian amd64, the update options are harmless.
Additionally, when the user installs packages from my repository, he adds only my repository in his apt sources list. As he does not add Flightaware repository to his apt sources list, there is no chance of conflict.
Enabling the update options are however necessary to enable rebooting Pi or Computer remotely from user’s flightaware stats page. This is a big advantage when user is away from his home.
Good deal just checking. As long as their source is not checking against their repositories. Which I have not dug that deep into checking mind you.
Keep up the good fight my friend!
The pre-built packages I upload to my repository are only those which are NOT available in Flightaware repository. As such there is no chance of conflict or upgrade or replacement from Flightaware repository.
