In all honesty a cat is the best way to go in this situation. Not sure what your airport environment is like but we adopted a pound cat and let him roam the ramp and hangars. He lives there 24/7 and is well fed and adored by the airport tenants and is very good at his job. Probably the cat’s Nirvana!
There was one time after a ~300nm flight I went back to the baggage door to get the towbar and low-and-behold there he was curled up on a booster seat cushion. Still not sure how/when he got in there, probably during preflight. I ended up smuggling him into the hotel room that night. Ever since then he’s been all over the Northeast in various aircraft with different pilots. He even got to fly on a NetJets Hawker one time to help pacify a nervous child passenger. He even has an unofficial “logbook” at the FBO desk to keep track of his travels.
