METAR not correct

When I put my mouse over the airport status (VFR, IFR, etc) for MY FLIGHT AWARE, the METAR for KBTL says 10SM CLR and other things. However, for the last 7 hours, it has not been 10 and clear once!

Currently it is: KBTL 241653Z 24016KT 6SM HZ BKN019 OVC026 02/M01 A2952 RMK AO2 SLP007 T00171011

But the mouse over is saying 10 and CLEAR.

It last updated on 1-23 at 22:53.

Thanks for the report – we’ll take a look at that and get back with you.

Thanks for the quick response!

FYI- it still hasn’t updated.

Thanks for looking into it.

I appreciate all you have done for this site!

The TAF is incorrect now for KBTL

It shows it from the 8th (yesterday) evening, but on the NOAA website, its been updated 2 times since yesterday.

Should be this:
KBTL 091600Z 091612 27015G21KT P6SM SKC
FM1800 27015KT P6SM SCT250
FM0300 21006KT P6SM SCT250
FM0600 21005KT P6SM SCT050 BKN120 OVC250
FM0900 21006KT P6SM OVC050

But instead it shows this:
KBTL 082213Z 082218 03007KT P6SM SCT025 BKN035
TEMPO 2201 2SM -SHSN BKN015 OVC025
FM0100 35005KT P6SM SCT025
FM0600 31005KT P6SM SCT030
FM1200 28008KT P6SM BKN035
FM1500 27011KT P6SM BKN030

Now its correct.

There appears to be a loooooong delay in getting the correct TAF’s up. :frowning:

Please see my earlier reply – we’ll respond here when it’s fixed.

Just seeing if there has been any progress on this issue. I know you are busy with all the improvements and I appreciate it, but the weather is still wrong often. Currently, at 3 local airports and one back home in IL, all the TAF’s and metars are from yesterday at noon.

Do you get the weather from the aviationweather.gov website?

Thanks!

Regarding to this METAR. I know what does “KBTL 241653Z 24016KT 6SM HZ BKN019 OVC026 02/M01” mean. But I couldn’t find any info that would help me to understand “A2952 RMK AO2 SLP007 T00171011”. What does it mean? Help needed  thanx!

http://www.alaska.faa.gov/fai/afss/metar%20taf/metcont.htm should be able to help!

Everyting’s clear but “T00171011”. Couldn’t find that…

Temperature 1.7C and dewpoint -1.1C.

Any updates?

Currently, KBTL, KGRR, KOKK are all incorrect in that they are all from the 3rd or the 4th.

Just checking! :open_mouth:

The lists of abbreviations are nice, but barely adequate to explain what all those symbos mean at the end of the metar report.

The true source is best, but highly technical. Its called the Federal Meteorlogical Handbook, or, FMH-1 for short.

nws.noaa.gov/oso/oso1/oso12/fmh1.htm

Wander through that swamp for a while, if you are a weather junkie.

The numbers at the end of the report are called Additive Data. You can look through Chapter 12.7.2 for a complete rundown on all of it.

It is August 7th and the TAF’s for GRR, BTL, AZO DTW, MKG (all in MI) haven’t been updated since the 4th. Also, I’ve noticed the METARS are usually about 2-3 hours behind.

Has anybody looked into this?

METARs should be 1/2 to 2 hours behind the actual weather information if they get the info via NOAA, and Sometimes stations will not report and the data is delayed for another update cycle. I’ve cross-checked the METAR/TAF data with airnav.com, and they both show the same time lag.

If the METAR’s and TAF’s are always wrong, why not just get rid of them all together on FA?

I just checked KBTL and the METAR was from the 1st, then I hit refresh and it was from today, but 3 hours ago, then hit refresh again and went back to the 1st.

The METARS seem to be incorrect again.

Current time is 1547Z on the 11th and the METAR for ORD is:

KORD 100625Z 35014KT 10SM OVC017 M04/M08 A3009 RMK AO2

That’s 21 hours old.

Very similiar on other airport METARS as well.

Disregard. It’s correct now.
