In case anyone is wondering

We’ll see

I’ve got a pretty clear view to the horizon - Have a shufti at this. You can see my current aerial come into view at around the twenty second point. The new one will be a little higher.

You certainly do have a view from that vantage point. That is certainly a broad Ham antenna that is surrounding the 1090 at center I believe. Will your new height be providing some additional separation from the Ham or are they both getting a lift?

The new ham aerial will sit just above the rotator and isn’t tall like the hexbeam so there will be increased separation. It doesn’t matter though, they don’t affect each other.

It only takes a few days for the fall, I wonder how far down I’ll go as I’ve got problems with the new aerial build and no indication as to when I’ll be ready to raise the mast again.

@JerryMcc You’re on top :smiley:

OMG what a surprise! I hope the rebuild goes well for you
I am looking at taking down my wifes 2 sites as has lost interest in it all
Well when I first started this hobby I never expected to go this far, hurry back chap, I dont like being top as everyone chases you lol
I see you are opting for a larger gain, my trial did not bear much distance fruit, would need to raise my antenna over 20 feet to acheive anything
At least your site was not blown down or hit by lightning, why dont you swap to your other antenna to keep from falling too far!
All the best Keith

Regards Jerry

Goodness! This is the adult version of King of the Mountain we used to play on top of the snow piles on the edge of the parking lot. Great Lakes region of USA. 3 foot of snow in a single day and all that.

We don’t get snow :frowning:

My other antenna?

Mine has been shipped by Slovenska Posta. Of course, that may hit DPD when it gets here but the tracking number looks like it’ll be handled by Royal Mail.

Yep that’s correct, the starting point is their national post delivery service. I guess it depends who they have contracted on the destination, in the Netherlands that will be DPD ( at least that was how it was delivered the previous shipments).

Yours is enroute now, my order will be shipped next week, I wanted a COL1090/5-P (also out of stock) as well as the CC1090/9 PSE.
The COL1090/5-P will be built next week and then they will ship it as one package.

Gentlemen. What’s the DPD stand for? Some form of postal delivery agency?

DPD is a subsidiary of the German post service, the abbreviation stands for Dynamic Parcel Distribution. It is a delivery service like DHL or Fedex

Thanks Tom. Helps me stay tuned in some what. Enjoy your final approach to the weekend.

To be honest, I’ve paid more in shipping for other components of comparable value. No antennas ha ha.

Different story lol. Don’t feel bad.

90-feet diameter all-band hexbeam 100+ feet above ground with no obstructions around.

… correct me if I’m wrong @keithma!

Heh heh heh, if I did, I wouldn’t be replacing it!

'cos at that size, it’d cover DC to daylight and it’d be nice to have something for top band where I could join in the conversations about prostates, hip replacements and all that sort of thing

Haha! One station can make a huge difference lol.

…- -…

seeeyah!

Aerial’s just been delivered, it wasn’t passed to DPD but came via ParcelForce and with a declared value of just €20, it didn’t even hit customs.

I’ve not opened the box yet, should do that this evening and I’m hoping to get the mast back up in the next few days. The main ham radio aerial build isn’t yet finished but I need to get the mast up out of the garden while I complete the rest of the aerial. Ideally, I’ll get this new ADS-B aerial up at the same time as the mast.
