FedEx 1311 Odd Route

#1

This evening I was watching the output from the ADS-B receiver here at Casa N7UV, with the VRS set to auto-select to the furthest out a/c. Suddenly, there’s this big arc showing from FedEx 1311, en route from KDEN (Denver) to KMFM (Memphis) but passing over the PHX area. I check the routing on FA and it shows
BAYLR3 TEHRU TBC DRK BXK TFD SSO ELP INK ABI FUZ TXK HOBRK1
Which is really a long way out of the way for a flight between Denver and Memphis. The straight-line distance is 872 sm, but the planned distance is 2108 sm.
Anyone know why they would route the flight like that?
cheers and 73 - Jon N7UV

It is one of their ‘sweep flights’, if you look at past flights under that number you will see that it diverts to a number of different cities for whatever reason, broke down plane, pick up extra cargo that wouldn’t fit on regular flight.
