Double Counting Aircraft?

When a new reporting day begins, I noticed that almost instantly my aircraft daily counts for the “new” day are approximately equal to the number of aircraft on my SkyAware map at that time. Presumably those airborne planes were reported on the “old” day’s counts and then reported again in the counts at the beginning of the “new” day. Is Flight Aware double-counting those aircraft? What am I missing?

That is the way it has been done for a long time. Aircraft are counted once per UTC day.

An aircraft could land and take off a dozen times but would only be counted once. I have seen aircraft than land a few times a week get counted twice. Qantas used to land at JFK before Midnight UTC and be counted. They leave after midnight UTC so get counted again. Technically they could come in every second day and be counted once per day.

Do you have a better way to count them?

FA could additionally check the flight number. If it’s the same in a short period of time, it could be filtered.

No, man. I was just making an observation that I didn’t understand. Thanks for the input.
