Thanks to those flameouts, I now get dual engine flameouts in the sim every time I go for recurrent in Texas!!! good thing is, I have made it back to the airport and they never give me 30000 feet to play with either!!!
One year I had a pretty cool instructor and one of my approaches was into PANC. after we landed he said we had some time left and suggested going and landing on a glacier!!! that was one rough landing…
The LA Times has provided more information on the victims. 9 of the victims were related to Dr “Bud” Feldkamp - a prominent Dentist from Redland CA. Apparently Dr Feldkamp - the Owner - WAS NOT on board the aircraft but was driving to meet them. Two of his daughters were on board along with their husbands and children.
You are right. There is plenty of speculation, but based on the fact that the guy was experienced and he crashed in what appears to be VMC then I am still going to go with the possibility he had a problem and diverted out of neccesity.
In reading this thread I’ve learned a lot about this aircraft type. It was loaded with to many people, but the fact that there were 7 adults and 7 small children is different from the earlier portions of the thread that indicated that it was 7 adults and 7 teens going on a ski trip. The weight & balance may still be a factor, but based on an earlier posting I’m guessing the NTSB can get medical records and know everyone’s weight and get close to baggage weights.
At the end of the day we still need to just keep praying for the surviving family members of all these people.
Yes, when you see the list of ages it explains how there could be so many passengers on board. Sadly most of the children were very young toddlers that could easily sit on a parents lap.
