another iphone ?

Sure, we thought of checking the website. But as you’ve seen there are conflicting reports. Does it have a real GPS with A-GPS…or is it just assisted GPS? Assisted is needed indoors, like when Will is at a strip club where it is so dark he can’t find the front door, :laughing: but if you are up in the mountains assisted is useless. There are apps for topo maps that seem to suggest regular GPS works just fine. Then you run into sites that say otherwise.

I agree a standalone GPS is better, but who wants to carry a phone and a GPS for casual use?

Did a little experiment on the flight yesterday. Out over the desert my Nokia found our position using it’s GPS, the iPhone kept asking to be brought out of flight mode and turn on the wlan. It never did find us.
