Finally did a quick test last weekend and didn’t notice a difference between the long PCB and the short PCB with tuning copper pieces. My DIY spider seemed to do better than both, maybe because it’s more omni-directional than the PCBs or it’s because the VSWR is slightly better than the PCBs.
Also just installed a small fan using the 7-volt difference between the 12V input and the 5V DC-DC converter output (5V alone wasn’t enough to start/turn the fan). It’s 101’F (38’C) today in Texas and my ADS-B box is out in the sun and the Raspi CPU is running a cool 64’C (without the fan it was +75’C) …
The CPU on my indoor ADS-B box (no fan) is running 56’C.
