Aircraft Type Decription

There’s also a SCHAFER DC-3-65TP on the list… changed it to the generic one.

Couple more:
C46 is Curtiss C-46 (rather than CW-20) Commando
T28 is usually a North American T-28 not a Sud Fennec (although some may be).

Still a few more tweakers.

B412 is listed as Bell Sentinel. The Sentinel is a specific version of the Bell 412EP. Suggest maybe simply putting Bell 412 like the way it is for the B407/Bell 407.

Taking it back to the Beech, the BE55 is listed as the Beechcraft 55 Baron but the BE58 is listed as Beechcraft Baron (58)…just a formatting issue there. Same thing with the BE36/Beechcraft Bonanza 36 and the BE33/Beechcraft 33 Bonanza.

Cheers.

For all you Helio fans out there…here is this

H-391B Courier
H-250 MK II
H-295 Super Courier
HT-295 Tri-Gear
HST-550 Stallion #001
HST-550A Stallion #002 (Of the 18 built, only 2 survive)

H-700
H-800 are ones built from 1983-84

Do you fly em? Which?

Flown all models except the Stallion…if only, I wish??

Fastest fixed gear STOL airplane FAA certified in August of 1969

262 KTS VNE…whoa!!

Got another one…

BE18 is listed as VOLPAR 18. Volpar heavily modified original Beech 18s with tri-cycle gear and then also with turbine engines. I think this should simply say “Beechcraft 18” instead of Volpar.

But there’s so many obscure options to choose from!

VOLPAR | 18
HAMILTON | Little Liner
Beechcraft | UC-45 Expeditor
Beechcraft | JRB Expeditor
Beechcraft | Expeditor
Beechcraft | C-45 Expeditor
Beechcraft | 18
Beechcraft | TC-45 Expeditor
Beechcraft | SNB Expeditor
Beechcraft | RC-45 Expeditor
Beechcraft | Navigator
Beechcraft | Kansan
Beechcraft | AT-11 Kansan
Beechcraft | AT-7 Navigator

You’re going to run out of room Mark, there were more than 30 recognized versions of the 18.

How about what it actually is…a beech model 18:

Umm… Shouldn’t we see the FAA designator for the aircraft type not the manufacturers? Like the Lear 35 and 36 are LR-35 & LR-36 type but the FAA & ICAO only want LJ35 on the flight plan for either one.

As pilots we should only file with the ID provide by the FAA at:

faa.gov/airports_airtraffic/ … 7340.2.pdf

Yes, but sometimes pilots/controllers enter the wrong code.

My thread is not about the use of non-standard codes, it’s the description given in FlightAware for the standard codes.

I guess for the Lears, the FAA realized that the Lear 36 is just a Lear 35 with a fuselage fuel tank meaning it’s basically the same thing.

Got 'nother one…

S61 is listed as WESTLAND WS-61 Sea King. Westland licence built the Sea King over in the UK several years ago. I would think that the majority of S-61’s in North America would be original, SIKORSKY S-61s.

Cheers.

Something went wrong here…they should look relatively the same as both are considered British Aerospace products. The BAe Jetstream Super 31 (upgraded engines) was also known as the Jetstream 32.

JS31 British Aerospace Jetstream 31
JS32 JETSTREAM Jetstream Super 31

Remember me?

The list continues. The Beech T-34 Mentor was seen listed as FUJI T-3 Mentor. Although there may be some FUJI built T-3s in North America, to call all piston Beech T-34s FUJIs isn’t quite right.

Found another wired one.

the Beechcraft 80 Queen Air is listed as the Beechcraft Zamir. Zamir is Hebrew for nightengale and is the nickname given to the type while in service with thr Israeli Air Force!
