Why no 738 service to SXM from EWR?

The Boeing B737-700 is too small and the 757 too large for the EWR-SXM market; the 737-800 is a better fit, but it cannot operate from SXM due to the airport’s operational conditions. Airbuses seem to have no problem operating in and out of SXM. Does anyone know what these conditions are that prevent a 738 running EWR-SXM-EWR? Terrain, length of rwy?

Economics. No airline has decided that the 737-800 is a good fit for a EWR/SXM flight.

" the 737-800 is a better fit, but it cannot operate from SXM due to the airport’s operational conditions."

What are these operational conditions? It’s not ecnomics. UAL would use the 738 if they could.

What operational considerations? If the 747 can operate there then a 737-800 can.

By the way, United is using A320’s between EWR and SXM, not 737-700’s.

All there 737 all head south and they are still on the old CO routes…better fit for the old CO routes since those aircrafts where doing those routes before united and CO got together…
