I’d just down an “apt update && apt upgrade”, and decided to do the usual thing to remove obsolete versions of packages, and it killed a bunch of packages piaware depended upon, as I discovered on a reboot. Fortunately, “apt install install piaware piaware-support dump1090-fa dump978-fa piaware-web skyaware978” and a reboot fixed it (the configuration stuff wasn’t lost).
This generally means you have managed to remove piaware-release on a sdcard image somehow.
(we haven’t been able to reproduce this on a 10.2 sdcard image without deliberately removing piaware-release; if you have an ideal of how it got removed then let us know..)
piaware-release is included in the list of autoremove packages so I also broke my installation. I am back online by manually reinstalling the missing packages. I used the --reinstall option but perhaps it is not needed.
This should be impossible, because piaware-release is marked as a “manually installed” package on sdcard images and manually installed packages are never candidates for autoremoval, so I don’t know what’s going on there.
